Why do you want to learn to fly fish? It may be to immerse yourself in nature, to take up a challenging but rewarding technical sport, or experience a unique combination of quiet contemplation and adrenaline fuelled exhilaration. Fly fishing offers all of these benefits and can be enjoyed by participants of all ages and physical abilities.
Our approach to fly fishing for beginners is built on professional training and years of experience. Licensed to practice by the Angling Trust (the sport’s governing body in England), our coaches provide training that is safe, fun and will give you the skills and confidence to fly fish independently. We recommend using licensed coaches who are quality assured by the Angling Trust and have appropriate background checks (enhanced DBS) and insurance. Some websites claim to offer qualified coaches but use unqualified staff. You should ask to see the photo ID which is issued to licensed coaches to ensure you are getting reputable professional coaching.
We use the Angling Trust’s CAST training framework to develop skills to nationally recognised standards of achievement. CAST certification can be used as evidence of structured skills development for Duke of Edinburgh’s Bronze, Silver and Gold award.
