Fly Fishing Locations
Our fly fishing locations
We Fly Fish offer a wider range of fisheries than any other fly fishing experience provider. These range from placid chalk rivers to wild moorland streams, from small lakes to the largest expanses of still water in the country. We’ve got access to some of the best fly fishing locations in the country.
All are hand-picked by our local We Fly Fish Pros. Some of our waters are not available to the public, offering a truly special fly fishing experience whatever your level of expertise.
Many of our waters are SSSIs (Sites of Special Scientific Interest). This is a formal conservation designation for areas of national or international interest for the rare species of fauna or flora they contain.

We Fly Fish offers great trout fishing in Surrey. We match our fishing tactics to the seasons and imitate insects and small fish that are primary food sources for the trout at the time. This can vary during the day, when a hatch of aquatic flies can bring the trout to the surface looking for an easy meal. Spring to autumn brings the best dry fly trout fishing in Surrey fishing, and some of our waters hold the Mayfly whose hatch in May to June is often seen as the highlight of the season. In the winter, trout often feed on small fish fry, attacking the shoals and providing great sport on flies imitating escaping or injured fry. Successful trout fishing in Surrey requires understanding the natural environment in which they live, and ‘matching the hatch’ to select and present an appropriate fly.

River Test Fly Fishing Guided Days
If you ask any fly fisher with knowledge of the sport which is the most famous fly fishing chalk stream, they will probably say the River Test.
Anglers who have enjoyed River Test fly fishing through the centuries include leading figures of the day such as Sir Humphrey Davy, J.M.W. Turner and Lord Palmerston. Once the sole preserve of the landed gentry you can experience guided days on this iconic chalk stream with all equipment and day tickets (permits) included.
Flowing through some of the most picturesque villages in Hampshire, the River Test is the longest chalk stream. Our water is on the Upper River Test and offer classic chalk stream fishing using upstream dry fly only for trout and nymphing for grayling in the winter. John Waller Hills the fly fishing writer summed it up perfectly in the 1920s : ‘She is the greatest trout river in the world’.
